Not located or visible the second M.2 storage device after upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor.
Hello! I just moved to the newest Ryzen 7 5800X3D on my Asus Strix B550-F Gaming card. Previously I had a 3700X and everything functioned fine with two SSDs. After installing the new CPU today, I can't locate the second M.2 SSD on the second slot (the one built into the chipset). I attempted to turn off Resizable Bar, checked for BIOS errors, and even ran Windows Disk Manager, but it still doesn’t show anything. Do you have any tips or overlooked steps? Here’s my setup: CPU – Ryzen 7 5800X3D, GPU – RTX 3090, Motherboard – Asus B550-F Gaming (WiFi), BIOS – latest, RAM – 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo 4000MHz, PSU – Seasonic Focus PX 750W, OS & Version – Windows 11 Pro, Drivers – latest from Armoury Crate.
Also verify the most recent BIOS version since updating via Armory Crate isn't available.
Thank you for your assistance. The BIOS was updated via the ASUS support site, but the chipset drivers are available in the Armoury Crate. I plan to look for a direct update from AMD or ASUS for potentially better results.
The BOIS isn't displaying the drive either. Because the bottom slot uses two SATA ports, you might need to switch the storage controller settings. After the CPU updated its chipset, it may have overlooked the M.2 slot and only checked the SATA connections. Have you checked if anything was re-seated since the CPU change?
Hi, I recently installed the 5800x3D and made no other hardware changes. I updated the B550 Tomahawk BIOS to the latest version but still faced problems with my m.2_2 NVMe drives since then. Initially everything functioned properly; I adjusted memory and BIOS settings. However, the drive stopped being recognized in both BIOS and Windows 11. I reset the BIOS, used a PCIE adapter in another slot, but nothing resolved the issue. The M.2 drive was returned for RMA and now works fine with a new one. It only worked for a day before the problem reappeared. I’m curious if BIOS parameters like DDR voltage or Infinity Fabric might affect the SOC running the m.2_2. My M.2._1 is unaffected, just this second drive. Or could it be my motherboard failing? It seems the issue isn’t with the drive itself since I’ve replaced it. Otherwise, I’m certain memory, CPU, SOC, and other components are functioning correctly after stress testing.
I didn't find any resolution yet. You're experiencing the same issue with your 5800X3D and ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus Wi-Fi II.
Could you confirm if the NVMe drive is the original manufacturer's version?
