You're starting with Linux and unsure about what to fix. The disk isn't being read even after trying apps like VLC and cdparanoia. Mounting didn't help, and LSLK shows nothing except SR0 at 1024MB. I checked that the reader is connected to /dev/sr0 but it only sees the physical device, not the disk or its data. Anyone?

Before we proceed, could you explain what you mean by "tried mounting but it did not work"? Are you seeing any error messages, or is the system stuck loading the disk forever? Or is it completely unresponsive? Also, are you referring to an audio CD, or a generic CD/DVD with files written on it? This is because I’ve had issues with audio CDs too—they seem tricky for Linux compared to Windows, and honestly not very user-friendly. Disks containing files should work fine, though. Could you also tell me which distribution you’re using? That would help narrow things down if you’re missing any packages. Edit: Just to be clear, an audio CD is a physical record where music is recorded directly onto the disc (like vinyl), not a digital file such as .mp3 or .flac. The main difference is that genuine audio CDs lack track files and therefore no filesystem to mount. Let’s figure out why this isn’t happening on your system first.
