I saved Windows 8.1 from Microsoft Imagine to use as a VM machine. I received a key for activation, but now the software refuses to recognize it.

I saved the right version, VMware was the problem. There’s an option to select the operating system, I believe it defaulted to Home. I reinstalled it and picked Pro. Appreciate the assistance.

It was the configuration section where I selected the ISO. The VMware identified the operating system, and it seemed to select Home instead of Pro.

Based on my knowledge of VMware, it frequently reduces complex topics to overly basic explanations, making it hard to handle them properly.
