Not enough role-playing games available is frustrating.

No, Mass Effect is not an action RPG. It's a sci-fi role-playing game with strategic elements.
I've grown tired of FPS or third-person perspectives with minor RPG touches—it doesn't feel like an RPG just because it has some roleplay aspects. Mostly, I don’t want games like Dishonored, AC, or Dues Ex. Those often feel more like shooters than RPGs. I’m not a fan of guns unless there’s a specific class or twist involved. I know I’m quite selective.
Dishonored remains impressive, especially as a stealth experience rather than a traditional RPG.
I'm enjoying playing Jade Empire now, but I miss old games like this. Think I've reached 320 hours in Skyrim already.
AC offers more than just basic RPG features. If you're tired of FPS and third-person perspectives, you might prefer a first-person RPG without guns. The Witcher was in third person yet remained an excellent game packed with RPG aspects. Similarly, Assassin's Creed was also third-person but still delivered great gameplay. But if you don't want to play it, that's your decision.
I'm someone who really enjoys diving into all the aspects of games with a variety of features. Open-world titles are my favorite. Hope you like RTS games too, since there are plenty of classic and modern ones worth checking out.
