Today I adjusted both Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 to the same high preset settings on my machine. Both games maintained consistent frame rates. In less crowded zones they hit around 60 FPS, while towns and busy spots averaged 40-60 FPS. The difference is noticeable—Witcher 3 looks much better and still keeps the same performance as Fallout 4. One title impresses with its visuals, the other struggles due to subpar optimization. When Witcher 3 drops frames, it’s less bothersome since I’m satisfied with what appears. Fallout 4, on the other hand, becomes much more frustrating when it lags. It seems Fallout 4 is among the least optimized open worlds this year. Bethesda would benefit greatly from a new engine.

The issue favors three aspects you might not expect—SSDs, a powerful CPU (like an i7 or OCed I5), and quick RAM. This setup is typical for Bethesda at launch since they often create strong games with many bugs. Since I have all these features, I’m not disappointed.

I haven't experienced any fps drops, yet it still crashes frequently and consumes a lot of CPU even for a game with simple graphics. While I didn't enjoy the Fallout series, I did like Skyrim; perhaps it's just my taste, but Fallout 4 feels a bit underwhelming to me.

They won't address their own issues. What else can be said?

Skyrim faced similar problems (just the same engine with minor adjustments), yet I still favor Skyrim over Fallout 4 because of its themes and style. My favorite Fallout title remains Fallout Nv, thanks to its unique features and thoughtful design.

My i5 4460 has always worked well in games. For smooth performance, a 5.0 GHz CPU might be better suited, but it seems the issue lies with the game itself.

They need to remove this outdated engine. Someone at Bethesda mentioned they’re using it, since other engines restrict developers from doing their own things. This would stop them from creating games that are buggy or poorly optimized.

I mentioned there are several issues, but it seems the problem might be with your RAM, since many users experienced similar problems

My system has a RAM of CL7 1600 MHz, offering good performance and minimal delay. You mentioned you've never faced issues with it in other games.
