Not allowed to exceed a RAM frequency of 1600mhz.
Hi,
I recently purchased new RAM from this site:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EUPV2RQ/re...c_continue
It seemed affordable and a friend suggested it. The RAM functions properly and I placed it in the correct DIMM slots as directed on my motherboard:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B75MA-P4...o-overview
The BIOS identifies the modules correctly, and XMP settings apply the appropriate specifications, as shown in the images.
The issue is that I cannot increase the frequency beyond 1600MHz even though the MSI website indicates it's feasible on 22nm CPUs (with OC enabled). Should I upgrade to an older BIOS version instead? Would it really matter for performance in benchmarks, rendering, or gaming?
Thanks
that board isn't built to auto overclock, you'll need to set all memory timings yourself for most cases. Certain features may rely on auto adjustment.

Note: DDR3 1600 MHz memory support depends on the Intel® Ivy Bridge processors used
• Memory speed beyond 1600MHz is available on some 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770K CPUs. This varies with CPU quality.
the memory capacity increases when the CPU isn't a K series and won't exceed its FSB even with faster RAM unless a BIOS update addresses Intel's limits
Another approach you might consider is resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, allowing it to sit for a short time or a minute, then reattaching the battery and attempting the process again.
Sorry, it didn't function properly. Examining the Bios image shows a My OC Genie option, but clicking it reveals a blank page, suggesting something is missing. Additionally, there isn't an option to adjust bclk, which I expected to find on all motherboards.

I was concerned about that possibility. If I had an i7-3770k, could I increase the frequency or would a superior motherboard with another chipset be necessary for my i7-3770? Also, regarding the BIOS settings you shared, are these the optimal configurations or should I adjust anything?
