I'm trying to set up software that needs extra COM ports (drivers) for my I5 gen 8 desktop running Windows 11 Home. The app is WSJT-X, a Ham Radio tool using FT8 protocol. I'm using the Yaesu FT-710 and they've shared driver links on their site. I followed the steps and got a success message, but nothing appears in Device Manager. I managed to install drivers on another Windows 11 laptop. Any advice? Thanks, Jim

I strongly support 6850 UARTs and traditional 9-way or 25-way D-type connectors. I still have motherboards with COM serial port headers. How is your i5 rig set up? I’m not familiar with FT8, but I recall using FEC with Lincompex at work. Are you connecting a USB to serial adapter to power the Yaesu or using a virtual COM port?

Those were the better times. The main issue was that they needed to be set up in the registry. No worries, I'm not going back.
You're likely to see very few I5 models with DB9s installed.
As you guessed, it operates via USB through a USB printer cable connected to the Yaesu device.

Problem fixed. Just a few days ago, I checked Device Manager over and over again and thought about pulling in the USB cable from the radio. But then the Silicon Labs drivers appeared and worked perfectly. Thanks.
