You cannot harm yourself by briefly interrupting the computer's power supply pins, as their voltage stays below the safety threshold. All hazardous currents stay securely within the PSU's metal enclosure where they are inaccessible. The maximum voltage emitted from a standard ATX PSU is 12V DC.

Changing the reset switch to the power pins resolved the issue, allowing smooth operation. Thanks everyone.
