Not able to insert files or media to the storage device.
I just set up Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on my system and removed the HDD to install it on the SSD. Since I wasn’t sure about erasing the old drive, this was the first time I installed Ubuntu without a virtual machine. After reconnecting the HDD, I saw two partitions listed as /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdb2 in /dev. Initially, I attempted to run cd to access the drive but it reported that /dev/sdb1 isn’t a directory. I tried copying a folder to the HDD for backup, but the operation failed with a grayed-out message. Online guides suggested using sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdb1, but I received an error saying Mount is denied because the NTFS volume is already fully used. It might mean the volume is already mounted or another program is occupying it—perhaps you can check with 'fuser' to see what’s using it. If that helps, I remember I partitioned the drive on Windows before.
The files aren't folders—they represent the device itself. Mounting it would have been the proper fix, but Ubuntu likely already handled it automatically. Check your file manager to see if the hard drive appears. You might also try fuser to identify what's consuming space, based on the error you're seeing.
I adjusted the setup a bit and messed things up. I unmounted both drives in the file manager, then mounted /dev/sdb1 to /mnt/sdb1, and accidentally re-mounted it there too. Now I can't locate the sdb1 partition and suspect it might be corrupted or overwritten, but it only contained Steam games—my goal is just to recover that drive.
You didn’t seem to delete the partitions, but... why did you remove the partitions? Just restart and let the file manager mount them again...
