Hello, welcome! I’m just starting out with overclocking and have encountered several questions and a problem. Two weeks ago, I purchased an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and began overclocking it using x-amp and Game Boost. It worked well until I ran a benchmark (Cinebench) and noticed the temperature reaching extremely high levels—111°C—and the system would shut down. Now, whenever I try to enable Game Boost or x-amp, it boots into Windows and stays on for a few minutes before turning on the CPU LED on the motherboard. The monitors stay on, but I can’t turn them off with the button. I still have access to x-amp, but not Game Boost at the same time. I’m worried something might have happened during the benchmark. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

What cooler do you have?
Shut down the game boost settings. I don’t suggest using tools like game boost because they might lead to stability problems and can result in unstable overclocking, potentially affecting performance negatively.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm considering switching to a master hyper 212 Evo cooler. Should I avoid overclocking with game boost settings?

I wouldn't suggest boosting the cooler with game boost, would you? It's just not suitable. The Hyper 212 should help reduce temperatures and possibly provide more room for overclocking.

Can you find a method to speed up the CPU without using the game's built-in boost?
