It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why many dislike Norton. There are likely several factors, such as customer service issues, software updates, and past security concerns.

It was serious before, and nobody expects another chance since it's not like playing for kids.

Since it's fundamentally malicious, it offers little to no defense for your computer when consuming system resources like RAM.

Uncertain about whether this discussion will be locked, here are some reasons shared by others—outdated AV tools, weaker detection, false alarms, and poor customer support. Some also mention subpar results compared to paid or free alternatives. Overall, it seems unlikely anyone would use it right now.

It keeps sending you irrelevant alerts about topics you ignore and push sales pitches. Hey, you bought Norton from us—want to get more junk? Please? No? Alright, I’ll check again tomorrow.

It quickly consumed system resources during those DDR2/DDR3 release periods. I haven’t touched it since. It felt similar to McAfee—it was essentially a free installer that kept asking for payment as the subscription approached its expiration. I’d label it as unnecessary bloatware.
