Hi. My Ryzen 7 2700 is installed on a Gigabyte B450 Elite board, still not overclocked and running a balanced power plan in Windows. I’m curious about the core voltage—it drops to around 0.78V briefly but mostly stays between 1.2-1.3V. That seems high for idle. My main worry is power consumption. Should we agree it should stay under 1.0V when not running? There aren’t any background processes using much power, so I don’t think a high voltage is justified. The core clock speed fluctuates wildly between 1.5-4 GHz every second—it feels like it’s trying to keep up instantly. I’d expect saving power mode to work, but once it hits full load it stabilizes at 1.5 GHz and doesn’t ramp much. That doesn’t seem ideal for my needs. Maybe a BIOS reset would help. Also, I’ve read that some monitoring tools can trick cores into thinking they’re under load. If you have a similar build, could you share your readings?

In Ryzen Master, the performance stayed at or above 1,025 after one minute of idle time.

I'm also at 2700 volts. 1.3V works just fine, but 1.4 is the highest AMD suggests for an overclock. Power consumption stays low.

It seems the data dips around 1.7 and then rises slightly, showing more green. It stays active and changes every second, reaching about 3.8-4 Ghz. I also reset it back to the default BIOS settings for safety. File attached (7).bmp

I'm checking how your chip behaves when idle. It's normal for it to run some activity even when nothing is happening. You're right about the limit—max is 1,4, and you might have exceeded it while trying to reach 4,1.

I'm confident about this, including the latest Windows updates and GPU drivers. I'm proud of that. The next phase should likely involve installing Windows. Additionally, I don't have access to the "Ryzen Balanced Power Plan" through the settings.

Running at 1.4V continuously can damage the device and cause quicker wear. It’s better to aim for around 1.35V, unless you’re manually overclocking. If the chip isn’t overclocked and you’re using stock settings, you shouldn’t be too concerned. Just keep temperatures under control.
