Noob's first PC setup
Hi there. I’ve gathered quite a few questions about custom PC builds, especially regarding motherboards. After about two years of research, I feel confident enough to start assembling my system but would appreciate some guidance on a few points. I’m using a Lian Li TU150 case, a Ryzen 5 5600X (soon), a Radeon RX 6800, and an AM4 B550 motherboard. The main board I’m considering is the Asus ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING Mini ITX AM4.
For alternatives: could you suggest other similar motherboards? I found these through PCPartPicker filters—they meet most of my requirements, but maybe there are more affordable options? I’m relying on PCPartPicker mainly to verify compatibility and availability. For the motherboard, I’d like a mini ITX form factor, at least 2.5 Gb/s Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen 2 with a type-C port for the front panel (since the TU150 has one), and a solid front I/O setup.
Second point: the case’s front I/O supports “2xUSB 3.0, 1xUSB3.1 TYPE C, 1xHD Audio.” This means the ports are designed to work with the case specs. The front panel also lists USB 3.2 Gen 2 and a type-C for the audio output.
Third concern: I plan to add at least three fans—two on the bottom, one on the front. Since I’ll be using a tower air cooler for the CPU, the rear space is limited. The manual mentions only “1x chassis fan connector(s)” under internal I/O ports. How many fans does this board actually support?
Thanks! I’m new to this and really appreciate your help.
