Noob GPU OC Question

I want to attempt GPU overclocking and have reviewed the basics. In the Nvidia control panel, I need to confirm whether the power management mode should be set to maximum performance instead of optimal or adaptive for my EVGA 1070 SC.

I was thinking about using Afterburner, but I noticed mixed advice about setting the Nvidia Control panel to Maximum Performance. I'm still unsure how overclocking and boost clock adjustments work together these days.

Conducted additional research and benchmarking using Heaven at stock speed clock speeds, revealing that with GPU boost the card operates at 2000 MHz. I've observed what some users achieved through overclocking, but the improvements are minimal and not significant.

We usually only join if necessary.
If you enjoy the FPS, you don't have to. The gain is also restricted in some way.

basically I've noticed on my card that the GPU boost is bringing it near its stability limits. A few managed to get an additional 100, while most only got about 30 more MHz beyond what the boost provides. I think I'll just settle for keeping it as is for stability.
