Hello everyone, I just assembled my first PC around 20 years ago. I had to follow some YouTube guides and probably made a few mistakes. Most components are working fine, but I’ve noticed the idle temperatures are a bit higher than expected—around 90°C. I’m checking if my target range of 40–50°C is too low or if something went wrong during installation. My CPU is the 7600 with the stock cooler, and everything is set to default. It gets quite hot during Baldur’s Gate 3, reaching up to +90°C. According to Reddit and forums, temps below 95°C are acceptable, but I’m aiming for 40–50°C during idle. My system specs show a CPU of 7600 with stock cooler, GPU 9070 Mobo, MSI B650M, RAM 2x Crucial DDR5-6000 at 3000 MHz, running on Windows 10 Home in a Dancase A3 case. The ambient temperature is about 27°C.

Welcome to am5, everything is fine here. The stock cooler works just enough. They run hot by design, pushing as much power as possible within their temperature and power constraints. A budget cooler significantly improves performance on these chips. In your situation, it’s essential because of limited airflow and the presence of other heat-generating parts in a compact case. As a result, idle temperatures naturally stay higher compared to larger towers with better ventilation. If you need lower temps, a decent aio from ThermalRight with a 240mm or bigger size will help, as your setup is built for them.

Check the performance tests; if you're seeing the right boost speeds, you're doing well.

Same setup with stock cooler, around 50-60°C during idle. 80-85°C while playing games like Path Of Exile 2 and Guild Wars 2. Purchased Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE for about $25, now it drops to 40°C and peaks at 62°C when gaming.

Hey everyone, I'm keeping an eye out for a cooler. My build idea leans toward "second hand," and so far most items except the PSU—though that one is refurbished—have been discarded. However, second-hand pieces sometimes sell above retail value if people are looking to recover their original price.

You ran a short Cinebench run and achieved solid performance. The temperatures stayed near the maximum, and the peak speeds stayed stable between 4690MHz and 4730MHz. This suggests your system can handle the boost clock speed you mentioned. The advertised 5100MHz max boost seems realistic rather than just theoretical.

Execute single-core test and verify boost clock.

One-core evaluation produces inconsistent outcomes: temperatures range from 65°C to 80°C, processor frequencies vary between 3200MHz and 5150MHz, resulting in a score of 111.
