I purchased my i7 4790k and a Z97-A on Hardwareswap. After installing both, I noticed my CPU hitting very high temperatures during full load (80-100°C while running Prime95 blend). The CPU Z and Task Manager reported speeds of 4.36 GHz and 4.4 GHz respectively.

When using the i series of Intel chips, it's important to choose the correct version. Running v26.6 is necessary to avoid issues like overvoltage and overheating. It's advisable to follow this guide. You might also consider Intel Burnin Test as a substitute for Prime95.

dont run prime 95 on that cpu.. theres an issue with localise heating of the chip when you run it which causes higher than desired temps.
