In short, Intel plans to release an update that prevents overclocking on their non-K Skylake chips. There may be ways to work around this, such as manually flashing the old BIOS using a specific command switch for the flash utility to ignore BIOS versioning, but it might not work. They typically took them out of the download list. If you didn’t have them before, they’re no longer there.

I thought it would be best to stick with the older supported bios? That’s unless they hadn’t already updated it by now if it was attempted today. I suppose you’d have to flash back and check what you end up with. I also expected Intel to remove the support for those BIOS versions from the download page, but who knows—Skylake and all its problems anyway?
