I experienced a clicking noise on my PC, though I don’t have an HDD. When I open many tabs or run DOTA2, the temperature rises from 30 to 40-60°C and the clicking becomes louder. Occasionally, playing DOTA2 causes it to freeze and require a restart. It seems this noise is connected to the issue. I haven’t checked the PSU during installation, and I don’t think the fan is the cause since the sound is consistent like a beep.
Do you own a GPU as well? If so, also look at the fans on that unit—they might be stuck or failing. The noise you’re hearing includes a constant bearing sound, a bad fanblade rattling, and a ticking noise. To pinpoint the issue, try disconnecting one component and testing again.
Sound 1: Besides the sounds, does your PC operate normally? A steady clicking might indicate power components aren't starting properly. If possible, try to pinpoint the source, as it could point to the PSU.
Sound 2: It seems like a fan blade is being struck or a fan has a faulty bearing and/or damaged blades. Checking the fans and nearby cables might be useful.
I don’t have a GPU. I’ll attempt to launch the PSU occasionally—it might not be active sometimes. It’s tough to time it because it runs for long periods before freezing suddenly. Yes, it freezes too; even at 30-40 degrees it does, and you’ll see that click sound. I think the PSU is likely the issue. I haven’t opened the case yet and just run the PC normally. I tried opening the case and booting up the PC, but there’s no fan visible that isn’t running.
