Noise during power-on, HP ProBook 640, display issue.
Hello! I’ve owned an HP ProBook 640 for about ten years. About six to eight months ago, its screen broke and it was left unused. Now I need it for university. I bought an adapter—display port/HDMI—and it powers on, but it doesn’t show anything on my TV. Additionally, it’s producing a grinding noise during startup, which lasts as long as the sound is happening.
My questions are:
1. How can I get it to display on my TV? I’m not seeing anything.
2. Should I be concerned about the grinding noise? Please help me.
Thank you in advance. Grinding noise.m4a
I checked the situation carefully. It looks like the hard drive is also failed. On older Dell machines, there’s a key on the keyboard to change the BIOS to an external screen—this feature doesn’t appear here. But if you remove the internal display (which isn’t helping much), there’s a higher chance it will connect via HDMI or DP for the BIOS.
I felt a bit upset, I pressed the screen (closed it), maybe I pressed too hard and damaged the HDD. Thanks for your understanding.
