Noctua nh d15 for i7 7700k?
Ah... I wasn't trying to say crap chip, though from those benchmarks: https://tech4gamers.com/intel-core-i5-86...enchmarks/ it consumes power almost as much if not more than 7700k. if you're concerned about temperatures, opt for Ryzen or the i5-8600k. Otherwise, expect high temps when overclocking—just lower the clock if needed. D15 performs well with air cooling and should manage most overclocks.
It simply refers to certain chips that allow high overclocking, while others struggle with it. Choosing which one you get often depends on chance. For some hardware, like specific GPU models, they test overclocking capabilities beforehand and then list the same model with an OC label, offering a higher price but ensuring a target clock speed. CPUs usually have a minimum overclock setting in place. The distance you can push typically comes down to luck.
( excuse my language) because I’m confused about what’s happening, I’ll just take the 8700.
