Installed a new cooler and tried booting up the PC. After one second, the fans started spinning and then the system shut down.

This situation doesn’t always indicate a faulty motherboard. It could simply mean the cooler wasn’t installed properly. The CPU might be overheating and turning itself off to prevent damage. This issue is usually resolvable. Reinstalling the cooler can sometimes cause problems, especially if the CPU was detached during installation. Have you seen any coolers being installed before? What steps did you follow?

It doesn’t seem like the CPU is overheating since we attempted to start it without a cooler after letting it cool down.

Hmm, that seems to contradict what you expected. A CPU without a cooler might function similarly, but if the cooler isn't properly connected, performance could drop.

It seems your cooler wasn’t installed correctly from the start. Double-check your manual to avoid mistakes—using a different mounting method can cause issues. Make sure the CPU stays properly sealed. Also, apply fresh thermal paste if you remove it and tighten the screws firmly. Testing without a cooler doesn’t make sense; that’s not a valid approach.
