Hello everyone, I recently took a break from using my gaming laptop since I switched to a desktop setup. When I unplugged it from the power source, it stopped functioning completely—no charging indicators, no power on, nothing at all. After opening it up, I noticed the battery appears significantly swollen. It seems something went wrong with it. Model: Electroniks Mech-17 G1Rx- Slim 17"

It's resolved when the unit is enlarged and inactive. Are you still protected under the warranty? It might be eligible but chances are slim since batteries are treated as disposable components. Plus, those fans definitely need thorough cleaning.

Should your laptop power up without a battery? Could there be another problem at play? How severe would the damage be if it gets punctured?

It functions properly only when charging works; otherwise, the battery is completely dead. If Windows fails to detect the battery, you can safely operate without it.

It’s not safe to discard the battery. Even with power connected, handling it improperly can pose risks. Reusing energy from it might not be advisable either.

You might want to test it by unplugging it, but it should function. Unlikely. A small spark is possible.

Be careful with disposing of a laptop battery. Regular trash is usually not safe—always recycle or take it to a specialized e-waste center.

Refuse this idea! Send it to a battery recycler or look for designated disposal areas in certain towns.

Reach out to a local e-waste recycler to confirm they accept damaged lithium-ion batteries, as not every facility can handle such items. Be cautious when moving these units since swelling can cause instability; for example, a laptop stacking on a swollen battery led to a fire, prompting management to address the problem.
