My CPU usage consistently hits 100% when playing games like PUBG, while my GPU usage stays around 40-70%. I’ve tried various troubleshooting steps but haven’t been able to resolve this issue. It seems like the bottleneck is likely the CPU, as it's maxing out its capacity without the GPU being fully utilized.
If you’re happy with the performance, you don't need to upgrade. You have plenty of RAM and an i7 that still outperforms older i5s (like the i5-7300HQ). I own this one myself, and it’s a solid baseline.

I’d wait for a newer generation CPU to become cheaper – something like an i7 or even an i9. It's better to invest in future savings. If you really want to expand your setup, consider a 256GB SSD. Don’t worry too much about the 3770 bottlenecking your GPU; it’s typically only around 4%, which isn’t a significant issue.
Let’s talk about upgrading your PC components – it’s a common concern. A good approach is to consider whether you're pushing the GPU harder than the CPU, like with demanding games at higher resolutions and settings.
For example, comparing an older i7-3770 processor with a newer i5-9600K reveals some key differences: [link to benchmark comparison] The i5-9600K generally performs better in modern tasks due to its improved architecture and core count.
if you are happy with the real performance do not upgrade.
You have plenty of ram. you have an i7 that still beats bets i5 that you could fit into laptop a year ago(i5 7300hq)
I own this one so i know myself.

I would wait for another generation to get cheaper and get i7 9700 or even i9. dont waste your money.
If you really want to spend some little money onto something that you can carry into another PC setup in the future, I would buy let's say 256gb SSD.
I would not say 3770 is bottle-necking this GPU however for me this CPU is a bare minimum for this graphic card.
Even if it is bottle-necking we are talking about max 4% so this is nothing.
other option is to overclock your CPU as its old enough. you will get 15-20% of power extra without even changing cooling fan.
It’s not the ‘K’ version, so overclocking is unlikely; 16GB of RAM is plenty for all games. An SSD won't significantly change framerates or game loading times. You could try faster RAM and ensure nothing else is running in the background while gaming – close down all other programs first. Let’s do a system clearout to see if that helps.
