Happy Christmas to everyone! I just acquired a new pre-built setup for the holidays. After some testing, I noticed my CPU isn’t performing as expected. On UserBenchmark it’s lagging significantly, and Cinebench gave it a score of 34,667. Some users claim the 13900K scores around 40,000. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong myself, but it seems like the problem persists even though temperatures look normal. I’m not very comfortable with tech, so if you have any extra details to share, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry for any confusion earlier.

Initially, consider whether XMP is active on your RAM and if background processes are interfering during tests. Verify that the 40k CB figures aren't skewed by overclocked CPUs. Benchmarking requires careful attention to many factors. For a fast comparison, try 3DMark Time Spy Extreme, but don’t use it against your actual CPU and GPU results.

Userbenchmark is quite outdated and doesn't perform well. The MSI AIOS from last year and this year has several problems, with multiple recalls—make sure to verify if your AIO is affected. Your 13900k needs a powerful cooler to get the best performance; a 240 might suffice for basic gaming, but at least 6000+ RAM is recommended. A solid choice would be the Arctic 360 Liquid Freezer 2 or similar models. You spent a lot on some components but neglected others, especially the RAM and cooler. Your RAM and cooler are key upgrades—check your motherboard specifications for compatible kits.

Hey aDoomGuy, Thank you for the quick response and taking the time to help me I really appreciate it. Yes I believe I have enabled XMP on my ram as I went into the BIOS and put it into profile 1 as the internet told me to do. Secondly, no I do not have a lot running in the background in fact I have closed everything I can down and ran the tests and got nowhere. In regards the the CB results I honestly have no idea if they're overclocked or not. I just made a quick Google search and found people referencing 40,000 being roughly the average. I have downloaded and installed 3DMark on your recommendation and ran a test and have got the following results: Your score 25728 Average 26629 Best 31171 https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/85784250?

Run HWInfo during testing. You can predict the 13900k thermal throttling in a few seconds of benchmarking. This will show where the performance drop occurs.

They won't handle the 13900k without you checking it first, and this 240 is no exception—especially since the model usually fails under such conditions.

Your CPU score isn't too bad, just a minor concern. Follow IkeaGnome's advice—use CB or 3DM. They're not the only ones thinking your MSI AIO might be struggling. You should be able to run your PC normally, but keep an eye on thermal throttling.

I’m glad you reached out! Here’s a clearer version of your message:

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your help! I downloaded HWInfo and checked the sensors page. Before starting 3DMark, I saved a screenshot of my sensor view: https://imgur.com/I84aRUG. After completing the test, I got a score of 25421, which you can see here: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/33943764.

After running 3DMark, I also took a screenshot of HWInfo. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the temperature readings because the screen was fullscreen, and alt-tabbing caused the app to crash.

Also, while downloading a game through the Xbox Store, I was idling at 60°C and my CPU usage reached 100% in Task Manager. Is this typical behavior?

I haven't used that chip before, so it's hard to tell what's normal. Your AIO isn't the best, but your temperatures look okay. The cooler the chip, the better the boost—so a better cooler would help. Your die max temp is 100°C and you stayed under it, which suggests it isn't throttling much. Still, upgrading to a better AIO could improve things. You're not falling behind the top 100 chips on 3D Mark. The Time Spy CPU test isn't too long, but if you run it for a while with CB23, you should notice thermal throttling if it happens. Games don't load so heavily on your CPU, so it seems you're okay for now. Just keep an eye on temperatures going forward until you switch the AIO.
