It’s probable the system notices repetitive patterns in your clicks, which might indicate automation.

Some might assume you're breaking in, so they could warn you, but I wouldn't do it.

Unlikely at all. I’ll still spray you down once I spot you.

Your automatic rifles aren't going to shoot any faster, and the semi-automatic ones won't either...

I’ve just tried it out and it feels the same speed without using the macro. It’s more comfortable to keep a button pressed than to click rapidly.

It was a major letdown when COD4 punkbuster began triggering mouse wheel traps for fire. The deagle would shoot as quickly as you could type. Quick eliminations left a deagle in the hands of someone within a second. Back then I played a paintball mod in Half-Life, but VAC didn’t prohibit this mechanic. From a macro perspective, I wouldn’t take that risk.

You're unlikely to get banned, but if you act like that in multiplayer, you might feel like a mess. For single-player, it's up to you.

In the majority of games, using third-party tools to automate actions leads to bans. I recommend avoiding it.

If individuals understand the setup, I’d acknowledge it.

Thanks a lot for all the answers! I'm just connecting my mwheel to shoot—it functions similarly, but no third-party tools needed.
