Hey there! I'm planning to boost my PC's RAM and discovered a used deal with two pairs of different models. I'm curious if they'll fit together smoothly at 2400MHz. (Disclaimer: Fossil Era PC) The RAM options are HyperX SAVAGE HX324C11SRK2/8 and HyperX PREDATOR KHX24C11T2K2/8X. Would these pairs work well together? Also, I've found a HyperX FURY HX318C10FBK2/8, which is a 4x8GB kit at 1600MHz. Should I go with that or take the higher-speed one, risking a mismatch? The difference between 1600 and 2400MHz is significant—what do you think?
Could work, just give it a shot! The highest likelihood exists when every stick shares identical memory and PCB design. (Unfortunately hard to verify before connecting—CPU-Z is tough, and layout inspection is even more challenging unless you know what to search for)

It's going to boil down to either it works or it doesn't, setup the way you are wanting it to be. There is a possibility of different sticks from different sets/set models with different IMC's not playing well together (Not compatable with each other), that's is a "Thing" but normally it's not a big issue to worry about. Also, if these sticks are spec'ed for two different speeds ALL sticks in the system will only run at the speed of the slowest stick(s) - No way around it. Best advice: Have all RAM settings in the BIOS set for "Auto" and see if it boots or not. If it does, then you can mess around with settings from there to see what you finally get. If doing that results in crashing/BSOD's and the like, leave it all on "Auto" and be done with it do the system will work at least.
I might prefer purchasing the matching kit at 1600MHz since mismatches could hinder performance, and I'm concerned it might slow me down more than the cheaper matched option. As for the performance difference, it's unclear how much impact a shift from 1600MHz to 2400MHz would have.
The compatible pair can always be boosted beyond 1600 and tends to work well together. Occasionally RAM has trouble with mixed configurations, but that hasn't happened much in my experience. Usually it's safe to set your RAM to auto in the BIOS and apply the changes.
