I acquired a fresh CPU, motherboard, and RAM at a great deal, but I’m looking to move some of my current gear. The challenge is, I don’t want to reinstall Windows. The motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth X58 and the CPU is an i7-950. Thanks!

It isn't recommended. Windows 10 is getting better at switching core hardware around but it isn't perfect. You have a high chance of getting an unstable system. I personally would just reinstall windows.

They received a major update and would pay around 60 to 80 dollars for an SSD to boot from it.

Meh, maybe. I think my HDD is fine, but OK. I'll think about it. No, I don't. The absolute most I could do is put some cat gifs and game mods on a flash drive and hope that works.

I noticed the change from FM2 to AM3, but plugging in the hard drive worked fine for me. It might be worth backing it up just in case, though it should function properly without any problems.
