Do you need to reapply thermal paste after removing the CPU? You mentioned you don’t have any, so you might want to purchase more, especially if you’re concerned about bent pins.

What is going on? If you crushed the thermal paste and took out the cooler, it’s always better to clean it up and reapply.

I believe OP is suggesting checking the thermal paste if the CPU stays with the cooler on, but even then, you probably can't reinstall it in the socket. If you take off the cooler, it's better to reapply the paste. Leaving the cooler on might not be possible technically, but it’s unlikely you could manage it.

I didn't do that. I don't have thermal paste, so I hope I won't need it soon... at least it shouldn't be an issue right now.
