Hello, Your inquiry is understandable. Upgrading components like the motherboard, CPU, and RAM doesn’t necessarily require a new Windows key. As long as your system meets the latest requirements, you should be fine.

Was it created by a retailer or a manufacturer like Dell, HP/Compaq, etc.? If from a retailer, the likelihood is roughly equal (they might have used an OEM or retail license, which can't be transferred). If it came from a manufacturer such as HP/Compaq, then yes—you need a different product key since the license isn't available for resale.

I purchased the PC from Ebuyer A a long time ago, possibly 4 to 5 years prior.

Only if you connect your key to your MS account, since it offers a choice in the activation settings to acknowledge major hardware modifications before transferring it.

Use the System Properties, scroll down, and look for the license section mentioning "Windows is activated." Check if any term like "OEM" appears next to the serial number or similar info.

An OEM key isn't transferable, a retail one is, and you don't have to connect it to the MS account (believe it).

After setting up the new motherboard, or reinstalling Windows, simply run the installation without entering a key. Once the process completes, you'll see the setup options appear.
