Virtual machines generally experience reduced performance, unless you employ solutions like KVM. This might work, but given macOS's strong reliance on graphics, it wouldn't be worthwhile.

I think Logic Pro will likely be my main need, and the Thunderbolt 3 connection was a key factor in thinking about a Mac Pro. I’m leaning toward making a Hackintosh instead. Creating my own hardware is something I really value.

It's the desktop edition of Logic Pro. Many renowned producers rely on it.

You might consider it, but if you don't intend to create then you reduce costs with a Mac. Logic Pro is excellent and can cut expenses versus Cu base or Pro Tools. Many plugins perform much better on Mac because they're built for AU and adapted for VSTs.

Interesting, I'm unfamiliar with this. If it works for the larger players, I bet I can manage just fine too.

Thanks for the input! I'm thinking about using Reaper for my music projects. I'm aiming to avoid purchasing many plugins and VSTs for both Mac and PC.

I’m planning to focus more on composing and I’ve heard Mac is great for music production. I think building a Hackintosh is unavoidable, but I wanted to skip buying all the plugins and VSTs. Those costs add up quickly. A few programs cost $500 or more, especially with Pro Tools, which I intend to avoid completely.

We're walking a delicate balance when talking about this, but for your goals you'll need to investigate your components thoroughly to ensure compatibility. I strongly recommend visiting http://www.tonymacx86.com for detailed guides and expert advice. Reaching out to the community there would also be wise, as they can point you to reliable specs and trusted parts.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I wasn't aware that topic was off-limits. Appreciate the link—I'll review it and avoid discussing the hackintosh issue again.
