Before adding a new driver, should you delete the current version you already have? For the B550 chipset, removing the previous driver was necessary. Afterward, the new driver handles the process by either deleting or preserving certain files. It depends on how it manages the existing data.

The updated driver replaces the previous ones. No concerns needed—it handles everything smoothly.

Occasionally, a fresh driver sets up alongside an existing one. It typically replaces the older version, eliminating the need for any adjustments.

Generally it works well, though if you really need it, replacing the old driver with a new one is fine. It usually succeeds about 95%. For the remaining 5%, just follow the steps here: uninstall the current driver, restart the system, and then install the new driver.

Usually it doesn't affect things, but I think AMD suggests taking out the old unit (just a few seconds) before setting up the newest chipset driver. I do it not because I always need to, but since they mention it and it adds only a short delay.

I checked and found it wasn't AMD—it was an Asus unit. If you download the drivers from their site, you'll get the latest version for your B550.

The official site doesn't list details about downloading drivers for the Amd chipsets, but removal is recommended.
