Hi y'all, Quick version: Can I combining two identical memory 4x4 kits to make a 8x4 set? I've already got this Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M4A2666C16 set installed in my PC but I would like to extend my memory. So I tough is it possible to combine two of the same memory set to make one big set of memory? The motherboard I use is an Asus x99-A. In general yes. Kits are typically tested to ensure compatibility between sticks, and usually nothing prevents two identical kits from functioning together.

Yes, it should work fine, but there will be a slightly higher chance of having issues with XMP. For example, a 2x8GB vs a 4x8GB kit of otherwise the exact same memory may have slightly different XMP settings due to the extra 2 dimms.
