Hi everyone, it might seem a bit odd, but I'm just starting out. Can someone clarify whether I should only focus on overclocking the RAM, or if once the RAM is set up for overclocking, the CPU will also try to overclock?

RAM can be boosted separately from the central processing unit's main components. The memory controller is built into the CPU, meaning overclocking RAM also affects that section of the processor. However, this differs from genuine CPU overclocking, where the actual processing units are made to operate faster.

Yes, you can still try to overclock your RAM even with a locked Intel CPU and a DDR4 3600, but be aware that the results may vary depending on your motherboard support and BIOS settings.

That relates to adjusting RAM speed on a Z-series board by enabling XMP profiles. Running it at 3600 MHz is the target frequency after optimization.
