It seems the setup is confusing. It might be using 12VO, which would double the voltage and ground like an EPS 4 pin CPU connector, but I’m not sure of the exact pin layout so I shouldn’t plug it in without knowing. Also, unclear how the board manages high TDP chips—likely it will either function properly or cap the CPU at around 65W. The socket’s pinout is probably the same, but double-checking the four-pin configuration on the board is important; HP might have a custom layout. Don’t assume a standard pinout. PCIe connections differ from EPS (CPU) ones. From quick searches it appears HP uses a smaller power connector on the motherboard as well. I wouldn’t try to reuse that board since it would likely fail with a regular PSU or case without major adjustments, and it might not even work with your CPU. You can buy Z370 boards for around $100 on eBay if you need one.

I noticed the wording came across as odd. I've seen 4+4 on CPU power at ATX supplies before; I was just reminding about the GPU for simplicity. I wouldn't have added that extra +4. The TDP limitation seems reasonable, but disabling two cores would likely cause an underclock since it's close to the 8700 and auto-limits. It looks like the design could have handled CPU better if not for the specific connector. In a case like this, it might have been feasible depending on how the board managed the CPU. If not, I’d probably go with a B310 desktop board. Thanks. I’ll check the small cable I saw—see if it matches an ATX PSU. I assume the two 4-pin ones are for the CPU and the standard connector might connect to a battery or another adapter. Will investigate further. Thanks.

Lincs brand motherboard, model 17514-1, isn't officially compatible with 8086k. However, it may work with the 8700 instead.
