You can consider upgrading to a more powerful processor for your HP ProBook 445 G1. Check compatibility and performance benefits of newer options like the AMD Dual Core A7 or newer chipsets.

Laptop makers often use BGA connectors for their processors. These chips are permanently attached to the motherboard and can't be swapped out easily. Unless you own the right tools, it's usually best to purchase a new machine rather than try to fix it yourself.

Even if you try, it wouldn't work. The top choice is a 4c/4t model, but it's so outdated that it remains quite slow. I'd skip it altogether.

The A6-5350m uses socket FS1, which is only available as a soldered BGA style socket. Swapping it would need expensive re-balling tools. Updated: Misunderstood the details earlier. Another reply confirmed my mistake. Edited May 30, 2020 by seapriestess

Here’s a revised version of your message with some adjustments for clarity and flow:

Additionally, I’ve included more details about the CPUs compatible with your laptop’s socket. For accuracy, I recommend checking the officially supported models on HP’s website, as there might be restrictions or hardware limitations involved.

I've discovered several references suggesting compatibility with the AMD A8-5550M, but whether an end user can actually upgrade depends on various factors. Compared to today's standards, this processor lacks significant power. Upgrading to a more recent laptop might be a better option rather than attempting to repurpose it. If you're interested, you can find these units on eBay for about $20, ensuring they include the pin grid array. You may also need appropriate drivers to utilize the CPU effectively. Overall, good luck with your search.

If your device relies on magnetic storage, I’d recommend investing in an SSD instead.
