Sorry for the delay, I'm using Windows 7. It seems this is the optimal choice since I have an old hard drive ready for transferring my important files. The process should be straightforward.

I noticed you mentioned being unable to boot from USB, which might be blocking the laptop's startup.

Go to Settings for Windows 10. Choose "Update & security." In the left panel, select "Recovery." Under Reset this PC, pick either "Keep my files" or "Remove everything" based on your preference.

Sure, I'll wait until you're able to use your laptop at home.

I notice my bio is quite old and offers limited choices. It seems to be a phoenix-themed version.

Legacy boot has been around a long time. You don’t have to use UEFI BIOS to make it work—there’s no need for that. I can assure you the boot sequence will appear in the BIOS settings, which is important when setting up the initial Windows installation. Even if Legacy Boot isn’t visible under the Advanced tab, you can still view the boot order. If your HDD shows up before the USB drive, the laptop won’t boot to your thumb drive unless you remove the HDD and power it on.
