I currently run a 2011 iMac on High Sierra for media and work tasks. Often I encounter problems where internet emojis don’t display properly, appearing outdated and glossy. Can I update the emoji support in a newer macOS version?

Update your MacOS to version 10.13.1 or newer for improved emoji support. Use the character viewer to type emojis and symbols directly into documents. To access it, open an app on your Mac, go to Edit > Emoji & Symbols, then press Control + Space.
