No video signal during advanced startup, the issue lies with the monitor?
Hello. I recently assembled a new PC with these specifications:
MOBO: MSI Tomahawk X870E
CPU: AMD 9800x3d
GPU: Gigabyte Auros Master 5090
RAM: 64 GB
SSD: Samsung 990 pro 4TB
OS: Windows 11
Everything functions properly except during the advanced startup menu (settings -> system -> recovery -> restart now). Upon entering it, I receive no video signal. I recognize this issue because pressing enter multiple times leads to a normal Windows 11 login screen. Additionally, switching to another monitor resolved the problem.
My current monitor is a Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. I have tested various cables and updated the firmware, but I’m still facing difficulties. Any suggestions other than replacing the monitor?
Thank you.
I'm using a displayport without an adapter. I had HDMI 2.1 and got the same outcome. It looks like Samsung's Odyssey line might be involved. They recommended using 60Hz, but my monitor only supports 120Hz and 240Hz. My fix was a cheap Dell monitor plugged in for this. Oh well.
Is the iGPU disabled in BIOS? Speaking of BIOS, what BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? You forgot to mention the make and model of the PSU.
iGPU is set to auto in the bios. When I set it to disabled, I cannot see anything on the monitor, until I change monitors.
As for the BIOS, I'm running E7E59AMSI.2A40 (03/12/25) I see a new build, should I update it?
My PSU is a be quiet Dark Power Pro 13 1300w.
Update
: I updated BIOS and still no change. Also the Samsung monitor would not display flash mode.
are you employing an hdmi 2.1 cable for 4k or display port with a converter?
previously, the issue stemmed from the converter/adapter i used. i had the correct 2.1 cable but an outdated hdmi adapter converter. after updating the adapter, it functioned properly.
