I recently transferred my fully functional 3060 to a friend and purchased a brand new 3070ti. Yet my setup isn’t responding properly. When I press the power button, the RGB lights activate and other parts turn on, but there’s no video signal and the GPU fans remain off. The motherboard’s VGA indicator lights up red. I’ve tried several fixes—unplugging cables, using a different monitor, checking PCIe ports, testing with and without the Ryzer cable, resetting CMOS—but nothing changed. My Specs Strix 3070ti features 5600x, Kraken X63 RGB, M.2 SSD, and Corsair Vengeance 16GB. I haven’t altered anything else except the GPU, so it seems a component likely isn’t faulty. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You've checked if the system is actually sending a POST or Boot command. It seems normal operation exists except for the bank video output.

Just to confirm, you've linked the power cables from the power supply to the graphics card correctly? I noticed GPUs sometimes fail in a top slot but function in others—make sure it's not a different configuration. Keep the riser out of the mix until you see the video.

I also unplugged them and then reconnected them. The 3060 I owned before functioned properly in the top slot, which suggests this might not be the issue. Alright, understood. I only tested it once using the riser cable to check for any differences.

It's possible, for instance. My test bench—a high-end setup with an HD 6450, 8800 GT, 3070 Ti and an RX 480 with 4GB RAM—functioned perfectly in the top slot. Yet a 1660 Ti and a 1080 Mini failed. This happened all within an hour, and I had all drivers correctly installed. Sometimes hardware just refuses to cooperate. The 1080 Mini also didn't work in the top slot on another machine. However, both the 1660 Ti and 1080 Mini are now regularly used across different systems, randomly choosing to run in the top slot. It seems you might have also repositioned the GPU. Do you have any other graphics cards available for testing? Or another computer where I can try the 3070 Ti? If you gain access to BIOS, you could experiment with setting the PCIe slot speed to the highest generation. That would be a good approach. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure—I've also been trying to understand why a known functional GPU wouldn't work in a particular setup.

The system starts up correctly, but the video display is empty. You may need to check the connection or settings.

The ROG Strix 3070ti typically needs a 750 watt power supply. A 650 watt unit might still get it running, but a higher capacity could be better to consider.
