Hello, I’m facing problems with my MSI MGPX Z490 setup running an i7-10700K. It powers on correctly but no display appears. I’ve noticed only six pins are supplying power to the CPU, and I’m expecting a full four more to appear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No, I'm not using a GPU and there are no debug lights visible on the motherboard.

I investigated further and confirmed the CPU debug light appears intermittently, which likely indicates a malfunction beyond basic operation issues.

You don't need the second 4 pin CPU power unless you're heavily overclocking. Are you using a 4+4 CPU power setup instead of a 6+2 PCIe power? (The cable went in easily and clicked fully in.) Is your RAM installed in the correct slot(s)? If you're using one, it should be in DIMM A2; if two, in DIMMs A2+B2. Before placing the CPU, were there any pins that seemed different—bent or damaged? Your clear CMOS jumper (JBAT1 in the manual) is set to retain data rather than clear CMOS. When you reply, please quote or tag with @ otherwise I won't receive notifications about your response. My power cable is simply an 8-pin and it displays "CPU." I have a single stick of RAM installed and it's positioned correctly. None of the pins appear to be damaged, though I'm uncertain about the clear CMOS jumper—I'll investigate further.

Check if your monitor connects to the GPU or the rear IO panel on the motherboard. Examine the visible CMOS jumper. If it's not active, reset CMOS. Remove the CPU cooler, take out the CPU, and reattach everything carefully. Be careful not to over-tighten the cooler, as this might lead to problems.

@Voluspa if there’s any update, I’m changing the broom to a B460 and switching to a Z490 chipset—I’m not sure if this affects anything.
