No video appears during the post on ASRock Pro 4, it jumps straight to Windows login and doesn't gather $200.
The System Motherboard: ASRock B450 Pro 4 CPU with AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Video, Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 580, 8 GB video card, storage options including Windows Boot (Crucial MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 SATA), Linux Boot (Western Digital Blue SN550 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME), and detailed specs linked. I attempted several methods to reset the UEFI-BIOS, consulting online guides. I used a screwdriver for connections, noted discrepancies between manual instructions and actual board features (CMOS1 vs CMOS2), and tried following steps from the manual at 2.5, p26. Despite these efforts, no signal appeared during testing, and my computer entered a black screen state. I also checked HDMI and DVI outputs, but none transmitted properly. I disabled fastboot in Windows settings, ruling that out as a factor.
Attempted removing the RX 580 to check if the motherboard functions properly afterward. On my 1080Ti with the Asrock X370 Taichi, I rarely see any Asrock or BIOS information on the DisplayPort screen until Windows loads. To view the Asrock logo during power-on or access BIOS settings, I need to connect it to the DVI port on the card. Just noting that I don’t have an APU or a board with display outputs.
I've received this card for a year now, and it's worked perfectly—thank you for the suggestion. I'll give it another shot during my next break to check the results.
I finally removed the video card and could view the post, gaining access to UEFI. In short, I’m back in the game, able to switch between boot drives as needed. The only adjustment I made was a setting about holding time before booting—remembered it was around 6 seconds, but I dropped it down to 1 second. That doesn’t clarify why I didn’t see output when pressing the Del key, though I did notice it worked better then. I changed it to 9 seconds and tested several times; everything seems fine now. I had a brief moment of concern when I forgot to power on the graphics card, but otherwise the process was smooth. Thanks for the suggestion @PineyCreek! I’m finally able to study Linux on weekends again.
