Heyo, I’m almost done setting up my new PC. The only thing left is the GPU. It’s hard to get it to start or even boot. The DRAM LED stays on most of the time, but sometimes the CPU LED flashes briefly for a few seconds—possibly during memory training. Eventually, the DRAM LED stays on permanently without any other changes.

Here are the specs: Mainboard – Gigabyte Aorus Elite B650M Ice AX, CPU – Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RAM – 2x16GB Kingston Fury Beast 6000MT DDR5, Storage – WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD (2 TB).

I flashed the BIOS with q-flash to various versions, claiming it worked for this CPU (30, 32f, and the latest 32G) and then cleared the CMOS by bridging pins and removing the battery for 10 minutes. I also tried re-seating the RAM in different positions, sometimes fully and sometimes partially. After that, I checked the CPU and the pins—everything seems fine. When I reinstalled the CPU, I used less force on the cooler mount, but it still didn’t work.

Do you think there might be a problem with the mainboard or RAM recognition?

Wait for the GPU to be available before proceeding.

Join the discussions! A GPU seems essential for starting this. The 9800 models lack integrated GPUs. The POST might be showing wrong information, possibly due to a prolonged RAM training session that could last up to an hour.

They typically support it on most AM5 processors.

The correct bios is F30. Place the RAM in slots A2 and B2. To use Q-Flash Plus, follow these steps: after completing the setup, format and rename your drive, then enter BIOS and press the Q-flash plus button to load it. You’ll see the LED blink at different speeds until it stabilizes. Once done, power on the PC.

Thanks for the answers. The iGPU is not powerful enough, but it should allow me to install Windows. I followed the guide, though it looked a bit different. It seemed to work— the Q-flash LED blinked and after a while it stabilized. Then the PC shut down.

The session may last a considerable amount of time, and I didn’t receive any notification before it started.

Sure, no need for words—just enough time if your RAM is at A2 and B2. Probably a bad motherboard.

It lit up briefly before the computer shut down? You should keep only the power supply active, not the motherboard.
