No updates are slowing down the 30 Series GPUs from Nvida.
Hey everyone! I'm sharing this because my setup has a Zotac Trinity RTX 3090 with a Ryzen 9 5900X. It's been around for about a year now, and recently I've noticed that every Nvidia GeForce card update seems to cause a big slowdown. Especially the latest one (546.17) really impacts games like Euro Truck Simulator 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, and GTAV. The performance is just terrible for a card of this quality. I figured it out by switching to an older driver version (471.41), which ran much smoother. It makes me wonder if Nvidia is trying to push their new 40 Series cards. Thanks for your help, Marcus!
I can't run benchmarks directly, but I can help compare the old and new drivers based on available information.
Hey there! I tested the GTA V benchmark using the old drivers at 1080p with VSync on and maximum settings. I got a steady 60 FPS throughout the whole test. Then I ran the same setup with the new driver, and wow—only 45 to 50 FPS, sometimes dropping into the low thirties. That really caught my attention and made me wonder why.
