I7 8700k MSI 1080 Ti with 11GB RAM, 4000MHz clock speed, Kraken X16, 52 water coolers, 250GB SSD, 1TB HDD, external 650W power supply, MSI Z370 gaming M5 board. I'm trying to keep this system running for at least a year and wondered if the voltage settings affect its longevity.

You're looking at speeds that match around 1.325GHz, not the higher 1.4GHz you mentioned. That voltage was more about achieving that frequency than pushing for extreme performance. It was tough to stay cool at those levels.

I should consider upgrading the motherboard, but will a CPU upgrade be necessary to reach 4000MHz?

They're fairly protected. I'd prefer VCCSA a bit lower, around 1.36V, though it should still be fully secure.

The gap between 3200mhz and 4000mhz is quite noticeable. You see smooth 240fps at 4000mhz but struggle with 3200mhz.

The RAM speed variation shouldn’t be so big. I barely feel the jump from 3000 to 3500… Also, keep in mind you don’t have to aim for 240 fps constantly, particularly with adaptive refresh. Target around 5ghz and use the highest stable RAM possible without overloading the voltage levels. Testing RAM consistency is really tough, and instability can lead to problems that aren’t linked to RAM alone. If your RAM isn’t fully reliable, it may gradually mess up data and make troubles hard to pinpoint. I’d enable XMP (likely around 4000 with your setup) and then lower the speed to a stable level, checking stability each time. For testing, once your CPU is steady, refer to: https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHel...guide/DDR4 OC Guide.md#memory-testing-software. Personally I use gstat and found several useful tips there.
