You're planning a future upgrade for your i3 10100f. To ensure it works with B560 or Z590 boards, you'll likely need to adjust the BIOS settings. Check compatibility and update the BIOS to support newer processors.

I believe the Z590 is real. It seems like it's similar to the B460, but for the 10th generation it works fine. For the 11th generation, it might only be available after the official release. You could upgrade your old BIOS to a newer one, replace the old CPU with a new one, and then sell the old one.

Can you even obtain them? i3 is usually the least durable gaming CPU line.

Choosing B560 or Z590 only provides Intel 11th generation support. By the time you're ready to install a new CPU, you might need something newer than 11th gen. Even though these models offer PCIe 4.0, adding an 11th generation chip inside could be challenging. It's a difficult decision. If I had to decide, I'd pick the most affordable board that fits your i3-10100f. Once you upgrade later, you'll likely need DDR5 RAM, which will become standard then.

People frequently click "Add to Cart": https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=z590 Other listings include the Z590 Steel Legend and MSI MPG Z590 details, as well as a product page with specific IDs and descriptions.

The problem I notice is the cost of a Z series motherboard for an i3 CPU seems excessive. It’s not about whether it will function, but many of the practical features won’t be available with an i3 processor. While upgrading later might help, it doesn’t extend the life of the current CPU.

I know that, I just was pointing out that Z590 was available. Looks like there's one B560 board out: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813157977...klink=true The other 4 listed are marked for 2/20/2021 release.

I thought that through. It looks like the focus was mainly for the user's benefit. The issue seems to involve an LGA1200 CPU, which might be plausible.
