I began playing Dota about ten years ago, sporadically. Some bars on Garena (really bad) a few leagues here and there (DotaCash, Ixmike's closed league, ICCup, etc.) and some competitive matches, but that’s about it. I’ve got roughly 5k hours on my main account (in beta since September 2011) plus a few hundred on my smurf accounts plus Dota 1, though I can’t accurately track the total. I’m not playing much now mainly because I don’t enjoy this version. My MMR sits around 5.2k–5.3k. My role is Carry, but I also played a lot of mid lane (this was when I was competitive). In pubs I just play whatever’s useful. My go-to heroes are Anti Mage, plus a bunch of heavy farmers like Dusa, Naga, the old PL (the new one is terrible), TB, Tiny, etc. For more aggressive play, I favor Storm, QoP, and Invoker. A special note on my favorite hero: Balanar. I have an amazing WR with that character! I mostly skip support, but when I do, Rubick and SD are my top choices.
The new PL has some issues. It's unclear if he's OP at times because Doppleganger is a major problem. He moves slower, but his speed spikes when needed, giving him a temporary edge against certain players. This lets him use a short burst of speed to counter opponents who rely on kiting, and he can chain his old abilities together. It's tough to handle this character.
He's really down. The invisibility didn't help much and you had to rely on it heavily because of the manacost. It was mainly for adding an extra trick. Now you have a Phase Shift+Blink that makes illusions pop and teleports them. The third spell is still slow—just a blink, not much speed. You can't farm or build up the jungle anymore, but you don't need to. All you need are Treads, bongos, diffusal, and you're ready to take down people. I craft him with Midas, Bots, Diffusal, Hot, Manta—whatever it takes. Usually adds Butterfly plus Crit/MKB. But the PL is still not great. Easy win at the pub.
I'd love to have more time each day for gaming. I've got Dota2 installed and have been thinking about playing it soon.
