Looking for a model that supports all 16x to 4 PCIe 4.0 slots without needing the extra cost of TR Pro. Many regular TR options are available instead.

You require four full PCIe x16 4.0 ports to support high-speed storage and performance, while a massive NVMe array needs enough space for large data volumes.

I specialize in 3D rendering and animation. I'm currently using a 2 3090 with a 5800X. After testing and checking online resources, I've found that 8x versus 16x provides a significant performance boost—about 20% or more—for the type of work I do. However, as my business grows, I need to upgrade to support four GPUs. What I see suggests that non-professional options are usually limited to PCIe 4.0 with three 16x units. It's tough to locate used TR Pro gear. I've seen a 3970x for $1,500 new (someone misplaced) and a 3975wx for $2,600 new (but it can't be overclocked). Since my projects use all GPUs simultaneously, finding suitable equipment is challenging.

The first generation EPYC offers good value. The Supermicro H12SLX supports five PCIe 4x16 lanes and two PCIe 4x8 lanes, accommodating your GPU and fast storage needs.
