I've been using ark: survival evolved on my desktop lately and it's really enjoyable. I was considering getting a surface book with a dedicated GPU since it looks nice for school. I'm curious if it can run ark smoothly. I don't mind adjusting the settings much, just want to play when I'm away. Also, I'm having trouble finding the right desktop GPU equivalent for the one in the Surface Book. What GPU would be similar?

The Surface Bok paired with the GeForce GT 940M is roughly comparable to a GT 730/40.

They haven't fine-tuned the game much yet. It was still running at about 25 frames per second on a Titan X.

It seems the performance might be poor. The design appears highly optimized, so reviewing benchmark results for the hardware could help.

The GPU isn't very strong and the game isn't well optimized, so I wouldn't recommend it for a smooth experience.

No way, almost nothing will work. My friend has a 980ti and his frame rate is still terrible, usually under 30.

For tasks beyond tablet features (which I use for design and some media), consider the Razer Blade Stealth instead, and plan for the Razer Core. The Surface Book is quite costly and isn't designed for gaming.

It remains unstable due to excessive CPU demand and GPU fluctuations; a strong processor along with a moderately capable GPU is essential for smooth operation.

Usually around 20-30 FPS at low settings, but major adjustments in .ini work if you have an iGPU. I see 40+ when using Epic- high with a 980.
