Considering a switch to the RTX 3050 and checking for performance limits, I'm comparing it with my current GTX 960 using 2GB RAM.

It seems the RTX 3050 isn't performing well enough for your needs.

It's mainly about handling performance; the 2600 handles most tasks smoothly, except for competitive games like CSGO and Valorant. That's typical.

The 3050 matches the 1660 Ti in performance but includes RT and Tensor cores—something that makes it stand out. It’s going to really impress.

R5 2600 works well with the 3050. It seems it should also manage the 3060 and 3070 models.

I wouldn't recommend pairing a 2600 with a 3070. That's the equivalent of pairing it with a 2080 Ti, and there's a reason the recommended CPUs for the 2080 Ti were the i7 8700K, i7 9700K, and i9 9900K - Zen+ just doesn't cut it for that level of performance. You'd need at least Zen 2. The 3050 is absolutely fine. The 3060 is okay, too. But the 3060 Ti is probably too far and the 3070 almost certainly is.

It varies by game; for CPU-heavy titles like the 2600, performance matters. Most modern games aren't strictly CPU-focused, but in MMOs, your CPU becomes crucial when frame rates drop due to bottlenecks rather than graphics limitations.

It varies by game; for CPU-heavy titles like Minecraft or CSGO, performance issues are likely, but in many cases it should run smoothly.
