I'm trying to assemble my first PC, but everything seems to fit. I connected all the components and double-checked them, yet nothing started. Before building, I noticed the motherboard pins were angled, so I took a photo—it looked unusual. I checked my manual, but didn’t find any guidance for this issue. No lights came on and no beep codes appeared. I tried re-seating the graphics card and RAM, but it didn’t help. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?

I don't notice any issues with that socket. Perhaps another person might see something I miss, but everything appears fine. Which motherboard and CPU are you planning to use? The pins in the socket aren't aligned straight up—they're all pointing toward one side, which is intentional.

Consider running the paperclip test. If nothing occurs, it's more likely the PSU is the issue than the motherboard. Fans and LEDs should power on at least when the system tried to start.

There is a chance you need a BIOS update for the 14900k to work in that motherboard. @RONOTHAN## Thoughts? I'm not too familiar with Z790's and 14th gen. BIOS website say validated since 1205.

I used the paperclip test and noticed the fan began spinning shortly afterward.

Amazon questions and product details indicate no bios update is required for the 14th generation.

Eh, seems unlikely. The 14900K should function with the 13th generation BIOS updates, though a BIOS upgrade might not be necessary (sorry, the Z790-P lacks BIOS Flashback, so you'd remain limited to whatever BIOS was present until you accessed it). If the PSU passes the basic check, but the system still won't start, the issue likely lies with the power button itself. It could be a bad button, a poor connection, or even the board being faulty—though the socket shouldn't matter. I think that's probably true for the 14900K and 14600K, except the 14700K has its own quirks. Keep in mind that Amazon's Q&A and product details often contain errors, so don't rely on them.

Tried using a paper clip with non-conductive gloves on instead of a screwdriver for the switch. Appreciate your assistance!

Great! It seems like a powerful tool—looks like a really engaging platform, whether you're playing games or using whatever system it is for!
